A fragrant tribute to my little son. In many respects each day I learn that I can obtain pure blissful pleasure outside myself. Mudita is a Sanskrit word which doesn’t quite have a direct translation in English, but literally means, vicarious joy, finding pure joy in the happiness of others. My son releases this inner wellspring of joy within me…..His little accomplishments, overcoming endeavours, daily successes all give me a sense of pure unadulterated joy. I have a huge appreciation and respect for the state of Mudita. The fragrant notes for this candle is inspired by the festive season, a season my son and I love the most ….
Looking in, from the outside, a mother and her son arrange both sides of the Christmas Tree. One side is meticulously matched and postcard perfect whilst the other side of the tree has everything from tinsel to baubles hanging precariously. If one looked carefully, you will notice that Peppa the Pig and Chase had found its way on one of the branches and a racing blue car is now stuck amidst the tinsel trying to fly off as a little hedgehog teddy bear sits on one of the branches.
The little boy tries to secure it with more tinsel. Finally, he gets distracted as the mother starts to wrap the tree with glowing lights and he jumps in pure delight. Laughter can be heard and a squeal of joy as the mother picks her boy up to place the angel of the tree.
From the inside, The tree is all decorated with bells, bows, tinsel and bauble, twinkles the lights and glitters in gold. The sparkling Christmas tree framed the bay window against a warm orange glow of a log fire and dim lights. We settle in by the warm log fire, blanket spread over, by the warm fire, conversations of a debate on what Christmas classic movie to play….By the table side sits fig cookies drizzled with sweet cinnamon and a slice of pear pie, caramelised chestnuts and a glass of milk and half eaten cookies that enjoyed a dunk in my masala chai.
The ambiance is filled with love and happiness.
